Conjunctivitis or Pink Eye

Conjunctivitis, also known as pinkeye or cold in eye, is an inflammation of the conjunctiva, the slim, clear tissue that lies over the white part of the eye and lines the interior of the eyelid.

The origin of pink eye is routinely a bacterial or viral contamination, an allergic reaction.

Pinkeye initiated by some viruses and bacteria can disperse fluently from individual to individual, but are not a serious health risk if identified promptly. Pinkeye in newborn babies, although, should be reported to a medical practitioner immediately. pink eye can be contagious, early diagnosis and medication is best to help limit its spread.

What Causes Pinkeye?

Conjunctivitis or Pinkeye has a number of different causes, including:

  • Bacteria
  • Viruses
  • Irritants
  • Allergies
