Epithelial Laser In-Situ Keratomileusis
Epi-LASIK is a refractive surgery method conceived to decline a person’s dependency on eyeglasses and communicate lenses, amending nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. Unlike LASIK laser eye surgery, Epi-LASIK does
not need the creation of a corneal flap. Essentially, it was evolved to explain some of the difficulties with LASIK and LASEK. Epi-LASIK values methods from both LASIK and LASEK, but disagrees in a couple of key areas.
Epi-LASIK Complications
- Starbursts, glare and Halos
- Under or over correction
- Flap complications
Epi-LASIK Benefits
- Reduced likelihood of flap complications
- Reduced possibility of dry eye syndrome
- Patients with thinner corneas can be treated
