Question 1: How many Lasik eye surgeries have you performed? How many in the last 12 months?

Answer: It could be a handy task to choose a Lasik eye surgeon.  You have to look for a Lasik eye surgeon that has succesfully performed at least 300 procedures in the past 1 year.  If he has been performed 300 or above it means  you’re getting an experienced and skilled  professional.

Question 2: What does the cost of the procedure cover?

Answer: First of all find out what’s incorporated in the Lasik eye surgery prices, and furthemore you have to make sure whether the cost of the procedure or method covers pre-surgery and post-surgery follow up visits with your Lasik or Laser eye surgeon.  Cost should not be the deciding factor, but be very careful and should  know what you are getting with your Lasik or Laser eye surgeon.

Question 3: Are you certified by the American Board Of Ophthalmology (or your country’s equivalent)?

Answer: Yes.

Question 4: Have you ever had malpractice insurance coverage denied?

Answer: No.

Question 5: Have you ever had your license to perform refractive surgeries revoked, suspended, or otherwise restricted?

Answer: No.

Question 6: What percentage of refractive surgery patients treated by you achieve UCVA of 20/40 or better?

Answer: Anything greater than 90% is within a practical range.

Question 7: What percentage of Lasik patients treated by you experience potentially severe complications, healing problems such as epithelial ingrowth, Sands of the Sahara or such as problems in the making of the flap?

Answer: Most experienced surgeons have a rate of less than 1% serious complications.
